Book Review: The Coming Home Series Boxed Set by Meli Raine

Meli Raine Suspense Book 2

When a mysterious job offer brings Carrie Myerson back to the town where her father was set up for a federal crime, she returns—to face a past more dangerous than she ever imagined.

And a love more passionate than she ever dreamed.

Drug crimes, kidnappings, set-ups and betrayal all unfold as Carrie and her ex-boyfriend, local police officer Mark Paulson, untangle the complicated web of deceit at the heart of her past.

Nothing is what it seems.

Including Mark.

This boxed set includes all three books in the Coming Home series:

Return Revenge Reunion

My Review:

Return I’m approaching this chapter in the Meli Raine saga a little bit from the wrong end. I already know what’s going to happen by the time the trilogy finishes but this book still compelled me to read more. Mark and Carrie are the pair that my foreknowledge knows the least about, so I’m really enjoying this chance to get to know them. I’m also soaking in the background to the events that will occur in the Harmless, Shameless, and False series. There are lots of hints about what’s coming next, but there’s also just as many sparkly red herrings leading off track. This book is a good choice for lovers of slow-build, atmospheric thrillers. I can’t wait to dive into the next chapter. Revenge This seems to be an issue I have with every book from this author: how the heck do I explain to anyone else what I just experienced in the book without giving away the whole thing. Every word, every action is carefully woven into a complex tapestry of intrigue and betrayal that kept me glued to the pages. Trying to describe any part of Carrie and Mark’s story would start to unravel those twisted threads and spoil the best parts of the mystery. Even knowing what’s coming, I’m dying to know more. Reunion The action and psychological warfare start immediately in this book. It sucked me in and kept me on the edge of my seat, frantically flipping pages to see how it would all play out. It didn’t matter that I had read books that came after this one, that I knew what the ultimate outcome was going to be, I was still held captivated in the moment. I felt every breath of Carrie’s panic and revulsion. I was caught up in her desperate need to find a solution. And when it was all over, I was right there with her, anxious to learn the rest of the story.
