My Review:
The drama and suspense of this story reeled me in from the very first words and kept me on the edge of my seat for the duration. I loved Dante’s determination to find his sister’s killer and bring them to justice. This was just one of the examples in this story of how much family meant to him. I also really liked watching the comradery between him and his “brothers in arms” in action. Maria was a very problematic character for me. I admired her fierce mama bear attitude when it came to caring for and protecting her son, but I didn’t like the way she treated Dante. I thought most of the time she behaved selfishly and was woefully naïve. I applaud Dante’s scorched earth solution to expose his sister’s killer, I just wish we could have seen a bit more of the fallout from it. After the little teaser in the ending of this, I’m more excited than ever to read the next book in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Bad Boy Update.
