Shattered SEALs Book 1

Scientist Summer Daniels is a witness to a bombing by an ex-employee who now wants her dead. Luke “Wiseman” Arroyo is a broken Navy SEAL on the verge of quitting HERO Force who must now stay and protect her. They'll work together to find a rare element stolen during the attack, but Luke’s hiding a bombshell secret that could detonate a lot more than the explosive chemistry between them.

My Review:

Sigh! A tragic, gothic hero. Be still my girlish heart. I love a hero in uniform. Make him flawed yet redeemable and I think he's irresistible. This is Luke to a “T”. Summer appeals to every nerd-girl part of me. She’s sassy and feisty and so bloody smart. She has a quiet innocence about her that nicely balances against Luke’s battle-weariness. I loved the push-pull, will-they/won’t-they through the whole story. A couple of recent books I’ve read kept the romance and the intrigue as two separate plot lines that occurred independently at completely different times in the story. This is what I wanted those books to be. The budding relationship between Summer and Luke heightens the tension as they try to protect her life and her research. And the growing intrigue and tension intensifies the chemistry between the pair. It almost killed me, and my reader nearly learned how to fly, while watching them fight so hard against their attraction. This is a brilliant start to this new spin-off series and I can’t wait to read more about the men of HERO Force New York. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
