Professionals with Benefits

It was a mutual fling.

Until it became so much more.

A taboo office relationship. And there’s no fighting it. Not for either one of us.

My life is spiraling out of control, thanks to family problems, but she’s always there. Always available for me.

And she deserves better. But I’m not that kind of guy.

I like our arrangement just as it is. Or I thought I did.

Professionals with benefits sounded like the perfect setup.

Until she walks away.

Now there’s nothing I wouldn’t give to get her back.

Even my high paying job.

Too Hot To Handle

All I wanted was to serve my country.

But life doesn’t take requests often.

After my parents’ death, I have no choice but to pack up my dreams and head home.

Lucky for me, a new start is waiting there.

A business and a beautiful woman that helps me run it.

She’s got her own demons to battle, but I soon find myself wanting to help.

Rumors spread around our small town, and at first, I find myself trying to deflect them.

But they’re true. I am playing favorites at the restaurant.

She’s curvy, intelligent, funny, and everything I’ve dreamt about.

I’m not going anywhere. Even if she is too hot to handle.

Whatever It Takes

I get what I want.

That’s how it’s always been. Until her.

She’s five foot seven of pure beauty poured into a pencil skirt and blouse, and she hates my guts.

My arrival at the law firm has derailed her plans of making partner, but it’s not my fault I steal the limelight everywhere I go.

When our boss throws us together on a difficult case, the competition begins.

She’s hard headed, clever, and unpredictable.

I love it. And something tells me she does too.

But she’s forbidden fruit.

And all I want is to take a bite.

There’s no going back if I do. It’s love or my future.

Or maybe there’s a way to have both.

If so, I’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Even break the rules.

My Review:

Professionals with Benefits I think I’m beginning to get a better sense of this author’s style: stories that are just as sweet as they are steamy. Daniel and Layla are all kinds of naughty with their boss/employee dynamic, but outside of the office (and the bedroom), they’re completely adorable together. Throw in a mafia twist, and this little story read lightning fast as I desperately rushed through to see what would happen next. Whatever It Takes This was not my favorite book from this author. It’s tough to like a story when you can’t like one of the leading characters. It’s doubly difficult in a read as quick as this one. Normally, I love watching lawyers argue. There’s so much passion to be found while they’re defending their positions, but I didn’t find Audrey passionate. I thought she was a bitter, vengeful stick-in-the-mud. She was so caught up in the belief that she was being treated unfairly and that Dane hadn’t earned any of his accolades, that she couldn’t let go of her anger and spite to embrace the opportunity in front of her. I thought Dane was badly shortchanged in this pairing. I found him to be sweet and charming. And he had enough passion for both of them. He deserved a woman who was capable of getting over herself, or at the very least able to get out of her own way. I would have liked to see more emotional growth from Audrey to explain how they got to the adorable ending. Too Hot To Handle The Chloe Morgan titles I’ve read so far remind me of the chocolate truffles with cayenne pepper in them. A sweet little morsel of goodness with a surprising kick if you’re not careful. Clay and Ira make a great team. I especially loved watching Clay help her battle her body issues. There’s lots of supporting cast in this book that I would love to learn more about. I could see this as the start of a series centered around the restaurant and the town. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
