Helena Hawthorn Book 3.6

It’s been over two centuries since Katharine’s death. To keep his heart dead and cold, Alexander works hard to build a prosperous business. With Lucious and Helena out of the picture, he is once again left with more paperwork than ever. That is until he meets a woman who challenges him at every turn.

Abigail Greene is strong-willed and always falls for the wrong guy. When she meets Alexander for an interview, she has to put on a perfect act to deter him from flirting with her. Her plan works perfectly, but what she witnesses in his club makes her doubt her sanity.

Swept away into Alexander’s dangerous world, Abigail is left tangled up in things she’d rather run from, literally. The only thing that makes her stay is the man who haunts her every thought.

*This book is part of the Helena Hawthorn series universe and takes place after Crumbling Control (Book 3). **It can be read as a stand alone or as part of the main series. ***This book has a HEA ending.

My Review:

Wow! There was a lot more going on while Lucious and Helena were dealing with the royals than I ever guessed. This book just took everything I thought I knew about this series and tipped it ever so slightly off kilter. When I first met him, I didn’t know what to think about Alexander. He’s reserved yet arrogant, so it takes a bit to acquire a taste for him. He’s now one of the characters I cherish getting to see. Abigail took some time to grow on me too. I really didn’t like the bitter, jaded, judgemental woman we’re first introduced to. I was particularly grumpy that it seemed like she was punishing Alexander for her mistakes with other men. Thankfully, she gets snapped out of this mindset before we’re very far into the book. I’m sorry for what all had to happen to make that work, but I’m very glad it came about. Their chemistry is off the charts, no matter if they’re fighting or making up. I’m very interested to see where they take us next. And, the movie theater scene at the end of this book is probably the funniest thing in the whole series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
