My Review:
The author has an absolute flair with ‘kidnap and kept’. I wanted to love Alessia and Vlad, but I ended up only kind of liking them. Alessia was such a little spitfire in our previous encounter with her that I was expecting something just a bit more. I really liked that she was so independent even though her health would suggest that maybe she shouldn’t be. However, I was frustrated by how little regard she had for maintaining her good health. There were a lot of “too stupid to live” moments that made me question how she managed to survive to see the end of the book. There are also some serious inaccuracies with the medical situations presented in this story, so that might explain it. Vlad felt a little bit flat to me. I just wasn’t able to connect with his motivations. There are some beautiful moments where we get to see the man behind the mobster, I just wanted to see more of them. I read a borrowed copy of this book.
