Shepherd's Creek Book 1

Rex is finally returning to his hometown after eight years in the Army. He needs to return to his roots to find something concrete to ground himself.

Alannah is leaving, because she needs to stop protecting herself by playing it safe. Now that she's ended her engagement, there's nothing keeping her in their small town.

When the two collide, they try to keep things casual, but all too soon, feelings get involved. Rex needs to be enough to make someone stay. Alannah needs to leave to remember who she is. Can the two of them be together, or will someone’s heart get broken?

Publisher's Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains a theme of power exchange.

My Review:

I quite enjoyed this book. It has everything I love about small-town stories. And a few of the ones I’m not so fond of; including the nosy busybodies that won’t let our leading couple live their lives for themselves. I adored Rex. He’s noble, and honorable, and loves his family to bits and pieces. The fact that he’s a military hero is just the icing on an already perfect cake. Alannah left me feeling a little conflicted. It was so easy for me to sympathize with her need to get out of her rut and experience adventure of any kind. I just wasn’t a fan of the way she treated Rex in her quest for those new experiences. I thought the ending was just darling, but the stop is a bit abrupt. I’m hoping to see stories about the other single Castlereagh brothers so we can see what happens when Rex and Al come home. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
