SEAL Endgame Book 1

Leila Ortiz is in terrible danger. Her gang member ex is out of prison and looking for revenge on her for divorcing him. Alone, except for her toddler son, Leila is scared and desperate. She needs a gun—fast. What she doesn’t need is to catch the interest of Clint Backwater, the sexy former Navy SEAL who runs the local gun shop and firing range. Then again, he does seem kind, is gorgeous—and has a way with kids. So when the danger to her escalates, Leila nervously agrees to move in with Clint so he can protect them. But can she really trust him? Or is she dumb enough to fall for another bad boy who will only hurt her in the end?

Clint Backwater is a loner. Always has been, always will be. So when Leila and her little son enter his life, it hits him—hard—that maybe being alone isn’t what he needs. Still, having his solitary life disrupted when he invites the little family into his home is a bit tougher to take than he thought. With Leila and her son in danger, though, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even putting up with the toys and noise. But the biggest danger might be to his heart, when it starts to look like the safest thing for Leila and her baby might be to leave her problems—and her budding relationship with Clint—behind.

My Review:

I adore a military hero. It doesn’t matter if he’s still in active service or retired, there’s just something about a man in uniform. (Or out of it.) Clint is the model of everything that is noble and good in the armed services. I was falling for him almost as soon as we met him. Leila is so focused on protecting herself and her son that took me a lot longer to warm up to her. She’s so fierce and self-reliant that she sometimes comes across as cold and b!tchy. These two create a lot of sparks: both the good kind and bad. They’re both so independent and passionate, it results in a lot of conflict. It was so much fun to watch her and Clint chip away at the layers of protection they each used to keep everyone at a distance and find their happy ever after.
