The Quinn Quartet Book 1

Can an opinionated reporter convince a part-time politician/farmer to dig into a mystery that threatens his Peaceful life?

She is far too stubborn and feisty for his tastes. He is too controlling and domineering for hers. When they meet sparks fly but it could never work.

He wants a perfect submissive wife, who will be a help in daily life and a vixen between the sheets.

She wants an equal partner, not someone with his head stuck in the 1950s.

When they are thrown together to uncover a dangerous scandal in their small town, they will finally give in to their mutual attraction.

But will it last? Can he love a woman who challenges him at every turn? Can she love a man who demands her complete submission?

Author’s note: Although it isn’t necessary to read Healing Jacob’s Heart, The Quinn Quartet books are meant to be read in order because of the over-all story arc. Each individual book contains its own romance and Happily Ever After! This book contains elements of power exchange and is written for a mature audience.

My Review:

The prequel set the stage for the interactions in this family and also gave us the background for their opinions on interracial romance. It is not necessary to have read the prequel to understand this book. I liked Ross and Delilah as individual characters. They’re both very strong in their convictions, and even though their political ideas are complete opposites, their goals are in alignment. It’s in their interactions as a couple that I felt like I needed more from them. Their intimate encounters made for very spicy reading, but outside of the bedroom I didn’t feel the connection, the tension, between them. There’s plenty of tension in the suspense arc of the story – that will continue deeper into the series – I had just been hoping to see it in their romance as well. I liked the way the authors call out the stereotype of the 1950s housewife and made it a bit of a running joke in the story. I actually would have liked to see more about how Ross and Delilah worked out their different opinions about this dynamic. I was already looking forward to the next book because I wanted to know more about the continuing mystery of this series, but after reading the teaser about Maddie and Lou, I’m even more intrigued.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
