My new boss is a ballbreaker. Fortunately, I don't have any of those. Unfortunately, he's not averse to breaking spirits either, and I do have one of those. He's a retired Airman who's hotter than hell but more stubborn than Hades. I can be stubborn too, though, and I won't let him break me without a fight. If that was the only fight on my hands, it would have been fine. But it's not. My ex is back in town and on a mission, I just don't know what that mission is. What I do know is that if he succeeds in it, he'll take my son away from me. No matter what, that can't happen. Ever. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't, even if it means turning my boss from adversary to ally. More than my ally: my pretend boyfriend. It's a crazy idea, but it just might work- as long as both of us can keep pretending. Here's the thing about pretending: if you do it long enough it sure starts to feel real. But that can't happen with us. I mean, he's my boss. We work in finance, not porn. Our office is a serious place for serious business, we don't have time for office hijinks. But maybe we can make some, you know, just this once.

My Review:

This happens to me more often than I like to admit. When I really enjoy a book, it leaves me completely speechless once I’ve finished reading it. I hate writing reviews that are no more informative than “I liked it” or “it was good”, but there are times that those are the only words a book leaves able to string together. One of the things I liked best about Joseph and Lilac’s story was the sense of family and camaraderie between the main characters. Even though only Lilac and her son, Lincoln, have an actual blood relationship, all the friends behave like family together. The story is as sweet as it is spicy, and it’s about as cute as a sack full of kittens.

I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
