My Review:
This was a very emotional book to read. It’s a little bit of a second chance, but at the same time it isn’t. It’s definitely best friends to lovers. I had already begun to fall in love with Wyatt in the previous books. Just by how much he was loved by his friends and family, I could tell he was going to be a special hero to read about. But then, my heart has always had a soft spot for a military hero. It hurt my heart to witness the ways he wasn’t dealing with his PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Penny was a little harder for me to pin down. I couldn’t understand how she could allow her family to treat her the way they do, especially in front of her son. And, maybe it came from having seen the situation from the other side first, while I could intellectually understand her anger at her father, the depth of her emotions caught me by surprise. I loved watching Wyatt and Penny realize their love for one another, even though they frequently made me want to knock their heads together. I can’t wait to come back and see what else has been brewing in Magnolia Valley. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
