Shifter World: Shifter Affairs Book 3
A law-abiding agent. A selfless woman. And a race to stop a killer.
Lyla’s been through enough therapy to understand a thing or two about guilt. But Uri, her by-the-book Shifter Affairs mentor, takes guilt to the next level. All is not as it seems, though. Because beneath all the guilt and his perfect agent mask, Lyla catches glimpses of the passionate man Uri truly is. And now she wants him—scars and all...
Uri knows he doesn’t deserve love. He should suffer for the mistakes he’s made, but his true mate disagrees. Lyla wants to heal him…worship him. All he wants to do is protect her. There’s evil walking the streets and preying on innocents. And Lyla is an angel—with a wicked side—that he refuses to lose.
But with a body count piling up and a killer on the loose, even fated mates have a hard time claiming their forever. And when Lyla becomes a target, Uri will use any means necessary to take out their enemy...even if he has to risk his career and his soul in the process.

My Review:
This story read a little like an episode of Criminal Minds or possibly even Law & Order: SVU with a decidedly paranormal twist. Nothing in this book was quite what it appeared to be, leading me through so many twists, turns, and double-crosses. This book was truly an emotional roller-coaster ride. I experienced laughter and tears and everything in between. I was very surprised by who Uri turned out to be. We’ve previously seen him as a bit of a rigid, rule-follower, so it was refreshing to see him break free from that mould. Lyla takes over this story like a whirlwind. I loved her great big heart and fierce independent streak. I just wasn’t as big a fan of how those traits kept leading her to do things that I thought fell into the “too stupid to live” category. I really appreciated that she did learn from those situations and didn’t keep throwing herself into danger all the time. Now, I no longer have any guesses about what the author is setting us up for next. All I know for certain is that I want to read it whatever it is.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
